Bachelorette party in Istanbul: ideas, a day plan and a private yacht

The easiest way to plan a bachelorette party in Istanbul is around a private yacht on the Bosphorus: it’s just you, your friends and the crew on board, and our Bachelor / Bachelorette Yacht Party already includes a cake, balloons and decorations. The rest of the day, or the weekend, is easy to fill — Turkish breakfast, a hammam, a photo walk through the old neighborhoods and dinner by the water. Here are the ideas, a sample day plan and what to sort out in advance.

Why Istanbul works for a bachelorette

Istanbul is a big city with plenty to do in any season: history, food, shopping and the lights along the water at night. It isn’t a beach resort that goes quiet in winter. We sail all year round, and every yacht has a heated saloon.

A bachelorette here also stretches nicely over a weekend without repeating itself. Mornings by the water, afternoons in the old city, evenings back on the Bosphorus. Hen party or bachelorette — whatever your group calls it, the plan is the same.

Bachelorette ideas in Istanbul

A private yacht on the Bosphorus

The headline idea is a cruise for your group alone. The yacht passes palaces, mosques and waterside mansions, and the Bosphorus Bridge makes an easy backdrop for group photos. On deck you play your own music, raise a glass and don’t share the view with the next table.

Our ready-made Bachelor / Bachelorette Yacht Party gives you three hours on the Bosphorus with a celebration cake, balloons, themed decorations and a decorated table. The price is for the whole tour, not per person, and VAT (KDV) isn’t included.

Turkish breakfast

A Turkish breakfast is a long table of cheeses, olives, fresh pastries and hot tea, made for lingering. You can have it on the water, too: on our Turkish Breakfast Cruise the table is set on the deck of a private yacht, and nobody is waiting for your seats. It’s a good first morning, before the celebrating catches up with everyone.

A hammam

A hammam, the Turkish bath, makes a good slow-paced part of a bachelorette weekend. Istanbul has many, from historic baths to modern ones in hotels. Book ahead, and book for the whole group at once.

A photo walk in Balat

The colorful houses, steep lanes and old churches of Fener and Balat look great in photos. Agree on one color or matching accessories, and the photos will look like one shoot. If you’d like photos on the water as well, take a look at our Instagram Yacht Experience.

Sunset and dinner

An evening on the water is an idea of its own. We time the departure to the sunset on your date, usually leaving about 30 minutes before it. How well you’ll see the sunset depends on the clouds, but afterward the city lights come on and the bridge is lit up. You can book the Bosphorus Sunset Cruise and add dinner on board. For a larger group, a yacht like Constantine takes up to 40 guests.

Tell us how many of you there are and what you have in mind, and we’ll suggest a yacht and a time.

Plan your bachelorette

A sample day plan

  • Morning. Turkish breakfast, on land or on a yacht.
  • Afternoon. A hammam, or a walk around Balat with a photo shoot.
  • Break. A couple of hours at the hotel to change for the evening.
  • Evening. A sunset cruise: cake, balloons, music and the lights of the Bosphorus.
  • Later. Dinner in town, or more time on board if you’d like to stay out longer and the yacht is free that day.

If you only have the evening, keep just the yacht and dinner — you’ll spend less time crossing the city.

Choosing a yacht for your group

You pay for the whole yacht, not per person, so the price is split across everyone on board. The bigger the group, the less each person pays. For how the price adds up, see our guide to Istanbul yacht rental prices.

Each yacht has its own capacity, and you can compare them on our yachts page. The boarding point depends on the yacht you choose; if you’d prefer to board closer to you, we can arrange that on request.

What to sort out in advance

  • The surprise. If the bride doesn’t know, keep the chat with us to yourself: we’ll agree on the date, time and decorations with you, and everything will be ready on board on the day.
  • Dress code. White dresses for the group and something bold for the bride, matching robes or headbands — decide early and the photos will look like a set.
  • Music. Put a playlist together. A DJ or live music can be added as an extra.
  • Food and drinks. You can bring your own food and drinks: on some yachts it’s free, on others there’s a small service fee. You can also order catering on board.
  • Photos and video. A photographer or videographer can be added separately, so everyone’s in the shot, including the friend who usually takes the pictures.
  • Something warm. It gets cooler on the water in the evening. Bring a jacket or a wrap.

Weather and booking

The captain always makes the call. If there’s a storm or it isn’t safe to go out, we’ll move your cruise to another convenient date free of charge. So avoid booking the yacht for your last night in town, and keep a spare day.

You can book the yacht itself on the day if it’s free. The cake and decorations of our Bachelor / Bachelorette Yacht Party are prepared only in advance, so message us at least 1 day ahead. Booking 2–3 days ahead gives you a wider choice of yachts. A 20% deposit confirms your booking, and the balance is paid when you board.

Planning a bachelor party instead?

The same tour works for a bachelor party: three hours on the Bosphorus and your own music, with a DJ or live music on request. We’ll match the decorations to your group.
